Olaseind Odimayo: A Pillar of Nigerian Art Celebrates 75

Olaseind Odimayo, who dedicated his life to the Nigerian art scene, celebrated his 75th birthday in December. He was instrumental in connecting artists with collectors, significantly influencing the Nigerian art market since the 1980s.

Odimayo began his journey in the arts after meeting Folabi Kofo Abayomi in 1982, leading to regular visits to artists' studios across Lagos. He faced challenges in promoting artists and their works, as the Nigerian art market was still developing.

Odimayo established Treasur House Gallery, which became a respected institution in Nigeria's art landscape. He organized exhibitions, advised collectors, and promoted artists, including notable figures like Ben Enwonwu and Ben Osaw.

His efforts helped cultivate a network of collectors and patrons, encouraging investment in Nigerian art. Odimayo's legacy is marked by his commitment to preserving cultural heritage and fostering artistic talent in Nigeria.
