Aba Manufacturers Boost Production with Improved Power Supply

Manufacturers and business owners in Aba, Abia State, have reported increased production and lower operating costs due to improvements in electricity supply from Aba Power Limited, a subsidiary of Geometric Power. Geometric Power Group, founded by Prof Bart Nnaji, operates a 188-megawatt power plant in Aba.
Business operators noted that stable electricity supply has reduced reliance on diesel generators, improved productivity, and encouraged investment across various sectors. David Madueke, Chairman of Damson Industries Limited, stated that his company has increased production and operates additional shifts due to steady power supply, although he expressed concerns over high electricity costs, with monthly bills reaching N5m to N6m.
Ume-udeh Aghaegbunamu, CEO of Blueworld Pharmaceutical, noted an 80 percent reduction in energy costs due to constant power supply. Vivian Aneke, factory manager at Fine Potter Nigeria Limited, reported an increase in production capacity utilization from 40 percent to 75 percent but highlighted high electricity costs of N29m monthly.
Manufacturers called for government intervention to address gas supply shortages.
