Abia State to Launch Electric Vehicles in December 2025 for Zero-Emission Transportation

Abia state is set to introduce electric vehicles in December 2025 as part of its efforts to achieve a zero-emission future and enhance its transportation system. The announcement was made by Chimezi Ukaegbu during the 2025 National Transport Conference organized by the Institute of Transport Administration in Abuja.

The state aims to reduce its carbon footprint by opting for electric vehicles over compressed natural gas systems. The initiative aligns with Governor Alex Otti's vision to modernize the transport sector and promote sustainable economic growth.

Abia plans to establish battery charging stations across major cities to support the electric vehicle rollout.
