Abuja Hospital Launches No-Cut Laser Prostate Treatment

Eleo Specialist Hospital in Abuja has commenced the Thulium Fiber Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (THuLEP) procedure, utilizing advanced laser technology to completely remove enlarged prostates without surgical cuts. This innovative procedure offers significant advantages, including minimal blood loss and the ability for patients to return home the same day.

Mr. Joshua Amayanvbo, head of the hospital, reported that THuLEP has successfully treated 30 patients, all of whom were discharged on the same day.

Dr. Paul Ngwu, a consultant urologist and laparoscopic surgeon, emphasized the importance of this new laser technology in managing cases of prostate enlargement, noting that it reduces complications associated with traditional methods.

The procedure can effectively handle large prostates, up to 400 grams, without the need for blood transfusions. The hospital aims to educate the public about this technological advancement and encourages consultations for further information.
