Academics Analyze Tinubu's Economic Thesis at LASU

The LASU International Conference featured a critical examination of President Bola Tinubu's economic thesis, co-authored with American scholar Brian Brown. The session, opened by Professor Akpan Ekpo, emphasized the book's central theme of developing Nigeria's economy through a systematic approach.

Mr. Michael Igaga, the Executive Secretary of the West Africa Academy of Science, highlighted the importance of African scholars in addressing developmental challenges.

The authors argue that Nigeria should leverage its agricultural strengths to stimulate economic growth and expand export markets. They propose a transition from exporting raw materials to finished goods, allowing Nigeria to retain wealth and strengthen its industrial base.

The conference also included discussions on the philosophical underpinnings of the economic policies presented in the book, with Dr. Amaechi Nwador challenging the categorization of the work within a strict Pan-African or neo-liberal framework.
