Adamawa Governor Fintiri Holds Parents Accountable for School Attendance

On September 29, 2026, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa issued a warning to parents during a visit from a Catholic Church delegation at Government House in Yola. He stated that any school-age child found wandering the streets without justification would result in consequences for the child's parents, emphasizing that parents would be held accountable under existing state laws.

This directive coincides with the reopening of schools across the state, following infrastructure upgrades made by his administration. Fintiri highlighted the significant investments in school infrastructure, recruitment of teaching staff, and provision of learning materials, aimed at ensuring children attend school.

He called for collaboration among the government, religious bodies, traditional rulers, and civil society to address the state's challenges. The delegation, led by Very Reverend Anselm Kachalla, praised Fintiri's efforts in improving public facilities and road networks, reflecting the administration's commitment to enhancing the lives of residents.
