Prof. Abiola Sanni SAN Discusses Nigeria's Tax Reforms and Fiscal Federalism at University of Lagos Lecture

Prof. Abiola Sanni SAN, the Chair of Tax and Fiscal Matters at the University of Lagos, delivered a public lecture examining Nigeria's tax policies and the implications of tax reforms on fiscal federalism. The lecture, held at the University's Tayo Aderinokun Hall, emphasized the need for a holistic approach to tax reform involving policy makers at both national and subnational levels.

Prof. Sanni outlined key aspects of tax reform, including simplifying complex tax laws, adjusting tax rates, expanding taxable categories, closing loopholes, and strengthening tax administration. He highlighted that significant revenue generation is a crucial outcome of effective tax reform.

The event was chaired by Chief Wole Olanipekun CFR SAN, the Pro-Chancellor of the University of Lagos. Prof. Sanni emphasized the importance of intergovernmental cooperation in achieving successful fiscal reforms in Nigeria.
