Nigeria Revenue Service Chairman Clarifies Implementation of Tax Laws, Emphasizes Adherence to Due Process

Zacch Adedeji, Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, addressed the controversy surrounding the implementation of new tax laws, stating that they are following the gazetted laws and due process, not a harmonized version passed by the National Assembly. Adedeji highlighted that the new tax law became operational on June 29, 2025, signed by President Bola Tinubu, with implementation extending until January 1, 2026.

He emphasized the importance of building trust between tax administrators and taxpayers to stimulate economic growth. Adedeji clarified that the final law will be transmitted through gazette for implementation, with no need for a harmonized bill.
