Firms Launch Africa Trade Engine to Close $50B Import Gap

TRT Manufacturing and Trade Depot have introduced the Africa Trade Engine to bridge Africa's $50 billion import deficit by enhancing local production and intra-African trade under the AfCFTA. The platform aims to reduce reliance on imports, boost self-sufficiency, and promote regional economic growth.

Co-founders Adam Molai and Kachi Izukann emphasize the initiative's role in advancing sustainability, reducing carbon footprint, and ensuring supply chain resilience. Additionally, a new Africa Index will track brand localization and distribution, promoting transparency and attracting investments.
