Afreximbank to Launch Financing Window for Africa's Mineral Processing Projects

Afreximbank is set to introduce a financing window for mineral processing projects in Africa, aiming to shift focus from exporting raw minerals to adding value domestically. The bank's President, George Elombi, highlighted the need for infrastructure development to support industrialization and job creation.

The initiative aligns with efforts to enhance intra-African trade and manufacturing under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). Former AfDB President Akinwumi Adesina emphasized the importance of increasing Africa's share in global manufacturing and trade value.

Investments will target modernizing seaports, constructing highways and rail lines, and building logistics hubs to reduce business costs and unlock trade potential.
