AGF Fagbemi Launches Free Medical Outreach in Kwara

Prince Lateef Fagbemi, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, organized a two-day free medical and surgical outreach for approximately 1,500 indigent residents of Ijagbo and surrounding communities in Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State. During the outreach, Fagbemi emphasized the importance of making healthcare services accessible to grassroots populations, particularly in rural and underserved areas.

He noted that this initiative aligns with the Nigerian Government’s Renewed Hope Health Agenda and called for ongoing investment in primary healthcare. Fagbemi announced plans to extend similar outreach programs to other communities within the local government area before the end of the year.

Prof. Uthman Mubashir from the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital reported that common health issues identified included hypertension, diabetes, and musculoskeletal pains, with screenings conducted for various diseases. The outreach also provided health education, consultations, and pharmacy services.

Community leaders, including Dr. Wale Adeoti and Oba Sharafadeen Babalola, praised the initiative, highlighting its significance for community health.
