Air Peace to Launch London Flights from Ogun Airport

Air Peace, Nigeria's largest airline, is set to commence international flight operations from Ogun's Gateway Airport to London in the summer of 2024, as disclosed by CEO Allen Onyema during an interview. This announcement follows a visit to the airport facilities by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Onyema highlighted that Air Peace will operate flights connecting the airport to both Gatwick and Heathrow airports, marking a significant milestone for Ogun State's aviation sector. The airport is described as one of the best-equipped in Sub-Saharan Africa, featuring a 4-kilometer runway capable of accommodating large aircraft like the Airbus A380. Air Peace plans to deploy its Boeing 777 fleet on the London route. The airline has received approval from the Ministry of Aviation to proceed with operations, which Onyema characterized as a national asset rather than a mere state initiative. Governor Abiodun also announced plans to expand the airport's ecosystem, including the construction of an international conference center and a five-star hotel.
