Governor Aiyedatiwa Orders Search for NAF Crash Victims

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has directed security agencies and responders to continue searching for victims and the wreckage of a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) aircraft that crashed in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area. The incident, which occurred around 11 am on Monday while the aircraft was traveling from Benin to Lagos, involved 25 individuals on board.
During his visit to the crash site, Aiyedatiwa described the scene as a “very gory sight,” with body parts and pieces of the aircraft recovered. The swampy terrain has complicated recovery efforts, prompting the governor to instruct the state Ministry of Works to deploy two amphibious machines to aid access.
He noted that the main body of the aircraft has not yet been located, and the depth of the mud may have caused it to sink. Aiyedatiwa also reported that aviation fuel is leaking into the water, causing pollution, and expressed relief that the aircraft did not crash directly into the community, which could have led to a greater disaster.
