Akwa Ibom State Government Seeks Bidders for Seaport Project

The Akwa Ibom State Government has initiated the process of sourcing preferred bidders for the Ibom Deep Seaport, a key maritime and industrial project expected to generate over 300,000 direct and indirect jobs between 2027 and 2050. This announcement was made during a media briefing on strategic infrastructure projects under the ARISE Agenda led by Governor Umo Eno.
The briefing was organized by the Ministry of Special Duties and Ibom Deep Seaport in collaboration with the Ministry of Aviation and Airport Development. The seaport, along with the Ibom Industrial City, aims to establish the state as a significant maritime, manufacturing, and logistics hub.
The project encompasses a 14,517-hectare industrial city, including a 2,565-hectare port area. The port master plan, site-specific studies, and feasibility studies have been completed, with the Full Business Case approved by the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission and the Federal Executive Council.
The infrastructure will feature a 20-kilometre approach channel, an 18.24-metre depth, and a 600-metre turning basin.
