Akwa Ibom Govt Shuts Illegal Schools, Proprietors Face Prosecution - Crackdown on Unlicensed Institutions

The Akwa Ibom State Government has cracked down on illegal private schools, shutting down unlicensed institutions and ordering the arrest of defaulting proprietors. The Commissioner of Education, Ubong Essien, led the enforcement task force, revealing that many operators complied with the directive to shut down.

Those who illegally reopened their premises were arrested and face prosecution. The crackdown aims to standardize educational delivery in the state and ensure compliance with approved standards, eliminating substandard institutions.

The Ministry of Education warns parents against enrolling their children in unregistered schools, emphasizing that the enforcement will continue throughout the school year.
