Nigerian Government, EFCC Must Explain Alison-Madueke Case

On Wednesday, Sumner Sambo, a director at Arise Television, called for the Nigerian government and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to provide explanations to citizens concerning the trial of former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke. This statement came shortly after a London court discharged and acquitted Alison-Madueke of charges that had been pending for 11 years.

Sambo emphasized the need for clarity regarding the recovery of certain valuable assets and questioned the discrepancies between previous information provided to the public and the recent court outcome. He urged the government to explain whether relevant facts were properly presented to British authorities, highlighting the importance of transparency in the case.
