In the 2025 financial year, 20 blue-chip companies listed on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) declared a total revenue of N27.8 trillion, representing a 28.7% increase from N21.62 trillion reported in the corresponding period of 2024. These companies, which include sectors such as cement manufacturing, telecommunications, power generation, oil and gas, and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), generated an estimated N6.75 trillion profit before tax, a significant increase of 291.5% compared to N1.72 trillion in 2024.

Notably, MTN Nigeria Communications PLC led the revenue chart with N5.2 trillion, a 54.9% increase from N3.36 trillion in 2024. CEO Karl Toriola highlighted that 2025 marked a significant turnaround for the company, resuming dividend payments and restoring positive retained earnings.

Other notable performers included Dangote Cement PLC with N4.31 trillion and Seplat Energy with N4.14 trillion in revenue. Despite economic challenges such as double-digit inflation and high-interest rates, these companies demonstrated resilience and adaptability in a stabilizing business environment.
