Oseloka Obaze Confirms Obi's Financial Handover to Obiano

Oseloka Obaze, a former Secretary to the Anambra State Government, testified that he was present when former governor Peter Obi handed over financial documents to his successor, Willie Obiano, on March 17, 2014. This handover included details of funds and liabilities inherited by the incoming administration.

Obaze's testimony comes in response to claims by Governor Chukwuma Soludo that Anambra inherited debts of approximately N127.37 billion from the Obi and Obiano administrations as of mid-June 2026. Obi released the handover note, disputing the claims of substantial indebtedness, stating that the net balance was about N86.66 billion after accounting for liabilities.

Obaze confirmed he witnessed both governors sign the handover documents, which included certified bank statements and a detailed report. He also referenced a debate where Obiano acknowledged funds left by Obi, questioning the rationale for the current financial dispute.

Additionally, Obaze cited comments from former governors Darius Ishaku and Alex Otti supporting the claim that Obi's administration left significant funds.
