Anambra Government Denies New House Collapse Claims

The Anambra State Government has officially denied claims circulating on social media regarding the collapse of the new Government House due to substandard quality during a heavy rainstorm on Thursday evening, April 9, 2026. Chief Press Secretary Christian Aburim issued a statement on Saturday, clarifying that while the storm caused significant wind and thunderstorm damage across various parts of the state, no structures within the Government House collapsed. The statement noted that a few barricade barriers, approximately 20 meters from the perimeter fence, were affected. The government condemned the misinformation as a deliberate attempt by misguiding elements to mislead the public. Aburim emphasized that the nature of the weather event is not exclusive to Anambra State and urged the public to disregard the fake news while continuing to support the governor's progress agenda. The Anambra Capital Territory Development Authority is already mobilizing site work to fully rebuild the damaged sections and implement additional engineering measures to allow for better wind flow and prevent future occurrences.
