Bauchi Governor Urges Army to Combat Criminal Activities

On Tuesday, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed addressed troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Safe Haven/Operation Enduring Peace, urging them to intensify intelligence gathering and ensure that no criminal elements are spared. This charge was made during a courtesy visit from Major General Maxwell Dangana, the newly deployed General Officer Commanding, 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Jos.

Governor Mohammed expressed the state's commitment to supporting security agencies in combating insecurity, identifying illegal mining as a significant contributor to terrorism and violence in rural communities. He warned that criminal networks exploit mining activities to finance violence, threatening food security and economic survival.

Mohammed called for decisive action against all involved in illegal mining, including potential family members. Major General Dangana, who assumed command two weeks prior, stated the visit aimed to assess security challenges and improve strategies in the area.
