Peter Obi and George Moghalu Raise Alarm Over Vote-Buying in Anambra Governorship Election

In the ongoing Anambra governorship election, Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections and a potential 2025 Anambra governorship candidate, along with George Moghalu, participated in the voting process. Moghalu raised alarm over the alleged massive vote-buying across the state, citing instances of voters being offered sums ranging from ₦10,000 to ₦15,000.

He condemned the monetization of the electoral process, describing it as a weaponization of poverty that undermines democracy. Peter Obi, while casting his vote in Anaocha LGA, also condemned the reported cases of vote-buying and electoral malpractice.

Both Obi and Moghalu called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to ensure transparency, protect the integrity of the polls, and allow voters to freely exercise their civic duties without intimidation or manipulation.
