Anglican Primate Urges Jonathan to Avoid 2027 Race

Rev. Henri Ndukuba, the Archbishop Metropolitan Primate of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, delivered a message on Saturday during the first session of the 13th Synod in Abuja, advising former President Goodluck Jonathan against re-entering partisan politics ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Ndukuba cautioned that Jonathan's involvement in the electoral race could jeopardize his established legacy as a respected statesman. He emphasized Jonathan's historical significance in Nigeria's democratic journey, particularly noting his concession in the 2015 presidential election to Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which helped prevent post-election violence.

Ndukuba urged Jonathan to maintain his current status as a senior citizen and a symbol of hope in West Africa, rather than risk tarnishing his reputation by engaging in electoral politics again.
