Anthony Joshua Mourns Friends Killed in Tragic Accident Near Lagos

Two-time world heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua, released an emotional statement following the burial of his friends, Latif Ayodel Sina Ghami, and others who died in a December 29, 2025, accident near Lagos. The accident occurred when a black SUV carrying Joshua's friends collided with a stationary truck on the Lagos-Ibadan highway.

Joshua, who was traveling for the holidays after a victory over YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul in Miami on December 19, sustained minor injuries and was hospitalized. Unfortunately, Ayodel Sina Ghami did not survive the accident.

The driver of the Lexus SUV, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, has been charged with four counts, including dangerous driving causing death and driving without a valid national license. Joshua, along with the Nigerian boxing community, including Jake Paul, expressed condolences.

Investigations are ongoing, and legal actions against the driver are being pursued. The incident has deeply affected Joshua and his team, with the loss of Ayodel Sina Ghami, a long-time member and a qualified sports exercise rehabilitation specialist.
