APC Chieftains Call for Suspension of Former Benue Chairman Agada

Party faction petitions NWC over Agada's alleged endorsement of opposition candidates and failure to back APC's gubernatorial pick.

Internal tensions within the All Progressives Congress have surfaced in Benue State, where party members belonging to the APC Solidarity Group have filed a formal complaint seeking disciplinary measures against Austin Agada, former state chairman. Submitted to the party's National Working Committee on October 2, the petition accuses Agada of engaging in conduct detrimental to party interests as the 2027 general elections approach.

Alhaji Sa'idu Muhammad, serving as National Organising Secretary of the group, signed the complaint outlining allegations that Agada has openly championed candidates representing opposing political parties instead of APC nominees. The petition specifically points to his public support for Senator Abba Moro, a member of the People's Democratic Party, and his refusal to campaign for Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, the party's gubernatorial nominee in Benue South.

Further allegations contained in the petition indicate that Agada maintains ties to the 'Rainbow Coalition,' a cross-party alliance reportedly affiliated with Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, which operates across multiple political organizations in preparation for the 2027 presidential contest. The petitioners are calling on the NWC to establish a fact-finding body, call upon Agada to present his defense, and apply appropriate disciplinary consequences if warranted.

This complaint highlights divisions within the APC's Benue structure, with one faction utilizing the national party apparatus to enforce compliance with party regulations. To date, the NWC has offered no public reaction to the petition, nor has it announced intentions to launch any formal examination of these charges.
