Otubanjo Warns of Political Danger for Tinubu in Rivers

Femi Otubanjo, the Director of Research at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, expressed concerns regarding the treatment of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, particularly in the context of the recent All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries. Speaking on a television program, Otubanjo criticized the role of Nyesom Wike, who is not a member of the APC, in influencing political affairs in Rivers State.

He warned that Wike's actions could negatively impact President Bola Tinubu's political standing. Otubanjo argued that Wike appears to be pursuing a personal agenda rather than aligning with Tinubu's objectives, which could create a dangerous political environment for Tinubu in Rivers State.

He emphasized that the current political arrangement in Rivers State is unprecedented in Nigeria's political history and urged that the treatment of Fubara should be taken seriously to avoid further complications for Tinubu's administration.
