APC Urged to Address Religious Imbalance in Kwara South

A group named AEGI Concern Youth has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to ensure religious balance in Kwara South politics. They accused the party's leadership of sidelining Christian participation, calling on President Bola Tinubu and APC National Chairman Nentaw Yilwatda to address the alleged political imbalance.

The group, represented by spokesman Busayo Adelowo, stated that Christians in Kwara South have faced persistent political marginalization since the return to democratic rule in 1999. They highlighted that no Christian lawmaker has emerged from the Ifelodun, Oyun, and Offa federal constituencies since that time.

The group claimed that political appointments within the state government disproportionately favor Muslim politicians, with Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq being a Muslim and holding significant positions. They urged the APC leadership to ensure fair distribution of political offices, particularly ahead of the next electoral cycle, warning against attempts to sideline Christian aspirants.

APC National Chairman Yilwatda acknowledged the group's concerns and assured that the party would address the issues raised.
