ADC Chairman Refutes Half Salary Claims in Osun

Alhaji Issa Adesiji Azeez, the chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Osun State, addressed claims regarding salary payments to civil servants during Rauf Aregbesola's administration. Azeez asserted that civil servants did not receive half salaries, countering widespread claims.

He explained that a committee was established to address salary issues, which included labor representatives. Under the payment structure, civil servants on grade levels 1 to 7 received full salaries, those on levels 8 to 12 received three-quarters of their salaries, and those on grade level 13 and above, including politicians, received half salaries.

Azeez emphasized that Aregbesola's decisions were made to protect jobs amid economic downturns and that he continued to pay additional months' salaries despite financial difficulties. He also expressed confidence in the ADC's prospects for the upcoming governorship election on August 15, 2026, urging political parties to conduct themselves peacefully during the polls.
