Nigerian Army Launches Promotion Board for 1,115 Officers

The Nigerian Army has commenced the 2026 Warrant Officers–Master Warrant Officers Promotion Board in Rivers State, involving 1,115 candidates. The exercise is hosted at the National Youth Service Corps Orientation Camp, Nonwa-Gbam, in Tai Local Government Area, and is organized by Headquarters 6 Division.

Major General Adewale Adekeye, Chief of Personnel Management (Army), addressed the candidates on September 2, urging them to maintain professionalism and prioritize their health during the exercise, which concludes on September 22. The promotion board includes documentation, certificate screening, medical examinations, physical fitness tests, weapon handling, drill, computer literacy tests, written examinations, and oral interviews.

Major General Everest Okoro, General Officer Commanding 6 Division, expressed confidence in the board's ability to conduct a fair assessment and commended Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu for approving the venue, emphasizing the importance of merit-based career progression and the responsibilities that come with promotion.
