Nigerian Army Denies Involvement in Shooting of Women During Community Clash

The Nigerian Army's 23 Brigade has refuted claims that its troops were responsible for shooting civilians during a community clash in Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa State on December 8, 2025. In a statement by Captain Olusegun Abidoy, the Army clarified that its personnel, alongside the Nigerian Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and Department of State Services (DSS), were deployed to quell violence stemming from unresolved land disputes and ethnic hostilities.

The Brigade expressed sympathy for the families of the slain women and urged the warring communities to embrace peace to prevent further loss of life and property.
