Nigerian Army Raids Ex-Petroleum Minister's Residence Over Alleged Coup Plot

The Nigerian Army conducted a raid on the Abuja residence of former Petroleum Minister Timipre Sylva, suspecting him of involvement in a coup plot. Sylva's brother was arrested during the operation, while Sylva himself is believed to have fled the country.

The raid comes amidst heightened security vigilance in Nigeria following recent military reshuffles and reports of a foiled coup attempt. Sylva, a prominent figure in the ruling APC party, served as Minister of State for Petroleum Resources from 2019 to 2023 and was a former governorship candidate.
