Nigerian Army Recovers N250m Stolen Oil in Niger Delta

Between April 1 and April 26, 2026, the Nigerian Army conducted operations in the Niger Delta, recovering over N250 million worth of stolen oil products. The operation, led by Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah, resulted in the arrest of nine suspects and the shutdown of several illegal refining sites.

Troops intercepted an abandoned truck on the East-West Road in Ahoada East Local Government Area, which was found carrying 45,000 liters of stolen petroleum products. Further raids in the Orashi Nation Forest uncovered a large storage site containing 35,000 liters of stolen crude oil and additional illegal refining equipment.

In total, the operation led to the recovery of 130,000 liters of stolen crude oil and 26,000 liters of automotive gas oil. Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah commended the troops for their efforts and urged them to maintain pressure on criminal networks in the region.
