Justice Tsoho Summoned Over Asset Declaration Breach

The Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) has summoned Justice Tsoho, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, to respond to allegations regarding his failure to disclose multiple bank accounts in his asset declaration form. This breach of Nigeria's code of conduct law has raised concerns, with sources indicating that Justice Tsoho is expected to appear before the CCB on Monday, following an initial expected appearance on Friday.

His asset declaration form was submitted on April 29, 2024, and reportedly omitted several accounts, including a domiciliary account and three accounts with Access Bank. The code of conduct regulations require public officials to fully disclose their assets upon assuming office, and failure to do so can lead to severe sanctions, including removal from office and disqualification from holding public office for ten years.

The situation is reminiscent of the case involving former Chief Justice Walter Onnoghen, who was convicted and removed from office in April 2019 for similar failures in asset declaration. The National Judicial Council, led by Chief Justice Kudirat Keker Ekun, is conducting a broader investigation into allegations involving senior judges.
