Atiku Criticizes Tinubu Over Oyo Pupils' Captivity

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, criticized President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu over the continued captivity of pupils and a teacher abducted in Oyo State. In a statement issued on Friday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku accused the federal government of failing to act with sufficient urgency to secure the release of the victims.

He expressed concern that the government’s claims of caring for its citizens were undermined by the ongoing situation. Atiku argued that true leadership should prioritize the safety of children and not engage in celebratory activities while families endure distress.

He highlighted the growing frequency of kidnappings across Nigeria, warning that public confidence in the government is eroding due to its inaction. The pupils and teacher have been in captivity for nearly three weeks, prompting renewed calls for improved security measures nationwide.
