Atiku Advocates for El-Rufai's Release During Malami Visit

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President and a presidential candidate for the People's Democratic Party (PDP), visited former Attorney General Abubakar Malami to call for the release of Nasir El-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State. This visit occurred upon Atiku's return from Saudi Arabia, where he performed lesser hajj.

During the visit, Atiku urged authorities to release El-Rufai and other political detainees, asserting that their detention should not influence political differences. Meanwhile, Malami is currently facing two separate legal cases, including allegations of illegal possession of firearms and an ongoing trial related to an 8.7 billion naira fraud and money laundering case.

The trial has been proceeding in the Federal High Court in Abuja, with compliance from financial institutions like Union Bank and Access Bank to testify regarding transactions linked to Meethaq Hotel Ltd and Rayhaan. The case was adjourned to April 20 for continued proceedings.
