Australia Sets Six Conditions for Work Sponsorship Residency

Australia's Department of Home Affairs has outlined six essential conditions that foreign nationals must fulfill to obtain permanent residence via employer sponsorship under the Employer Nomination Scheme. The requirements pertain to the Direct Entry stream of the Subclass 186 visa.

Firstly, the applicant's occupation must be listed on the Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL). Secondly, most applicants are required to have a minimum of three years of relevant work experience in their nominated occupation, with exemptions for those not needing a skills assessment.

Thirdly, a positive skills assessment confirming qualifications for the nominated position is necessary. Fourthly, the nomination must come from an actively and lawfully operating Australian employer.

Once approved, applicants have six months to submit their visa application. Fifthly, most applicants must be under 45 years old at the time of application, with some exemptions.

Lastly, applicants must demonstrate at least competent English, with additional requirements for dependents aged 18 or older.
