Experts Call for Reforms at Awolowo Memorial Lecture

Iziak Salako, the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, praised Chief Obafemi Awolowo as a wise leader whose principles should guide current governance. He highlighted the need for radical economic reforms to prevent fiscal collapse, citing a GDP growth rate of 4.23% in the second quarter of 2025.

Former Commonwealth Secretary-General Chief Emeka Anyaoku stressed the importance of maintaining Nigeria's sovereignty amidst security challenges, particularly in states like Zamfara and Plateau. He called for fair electoral processes ahead of the 2027 elections.

Prof. Wale Adebanwi from the University of Pennsylvania delivered a lecture on the political future, criticizing the current leadership for failing to adopt scientific approaches to social issues.

The event concluded with a call to uphold Awolowo's ideals for a just society.
