Taiwo Awoniyi Honored for Humanitarian Work in 2026

Nigeria international Taiwo Awoniyi was awarded the ‘Beyond the Pitch’ Award at the 2026 Best of Africa Awards held in London, recognizing his significant humanitarian contributions to community development in Nigeria. The Coventry City and Super Eagles forward was honored for leveraging his profile to support social development, healthcare initiatives, and youth empowerment.

A key aspect of Awoniyi’s grassroots intervention is his funding of the Kwara Kiddies League, which offers young footballers in Ilorin and Kwara State opportunities to develop their talents through organized competitions. This initiative also provides football kits, equipment, and cash prizes to encourage participation and support the development of young players.

The annual Best of Africa Awards, supported by the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA), celebrate individuals of African heritage for their contributions to social change. In his Instagram post, Awoniyi expressed gratitude for the recognition and emphasized the importance of giving back to society.
