AYFLI Initiative Launched to Empower Young Women Leaders

The AYFLI initiative was officially launched in Lafia, Nasarawa State, with a focus on strengthening young women's leadership. Minister Maryam Babangida spoke at the event, highlighting the importance of addressing barriers that hinder the advancement of young women.

She linked the initiative to the Nigerian government's broader social development agenda, noting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has designated 2026 as the Year of Family Social Development. Babangida commended NAYFLI founder Halima Gayam for her efforts in promoting mentorship and capacity building for young women.

The initiative aims to enhance women's leadership through political mentorship and grassroots financial literacy. Babangida urged collaboration among stakeholders to support young women leaders and provide them with access to decision-making platforms and economic opportunities.

The event culminated in the unveiling of the first cohort of NAYFLI participants, encouraging them to champion community transformation and contribute to sustainable development across Nasarawa State.
