Baba-Ahmed Launches Scathing Attack on Tinubu's Record, Predicts Northern Resistance

Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, heading the Peoples Redemption Party, has issued broad condemnation of how President Bola Tinubu has governed, labeling his time in office as a failure and warning that voters across the North will punish the All Progressives Congress at the 2027 ballot box. Speaking on Channels Television's Politics Today on Tuesday, Baba-Ahmed laid out complaints that he contends reflect regional sentiment.

According to Baba-Ahmed, conditions nationwide have deteriorated since Tinubu took power in May 2023. He pointed to worsening insecurity and spreading poverty as evidence of this decline.

The PRP chairman faulted Tinubu for entering office unprepared and without grasping what caused the nation's problems, and he denounced the government's economic reform initiatives as harmful to ordinary citizens. Additionally, Baba-Ahmed claimed Tinubu financed his own 2023 presidential bid using personal wealth rather than drawing on public contributions, suggesting the president circumvented normal democratic means to attain office.

Baba-Ahmed went on to say Northern citizens feel humiliated and abandoned by the present administration. He predicted the North will resist the APC's planned money distribution before 2027 arrives.

He portrayed the region as determined to make the ruling party answer for unfulfilled pledges and what he termed systematic neglect of Northern interests during this current term. However, Baba-Ahmed's statements have drawn opposition within Northern political circles.

A regional organisation called the Arewa Voters Assembly issued a statement predicting his own political ambitions will collapse in 2027. The assembly simultaneously contested his loyalty to the PRP and criticized his public criticism of Tinubu, suggesting his credibility on regional issues may not extend to constituencies in his home base.
