Bangladesh's Youth Party in Turmoil Over Secret Pact with Islamists

Bangladesh's youth-led political party, the Nation Citizen Party (NCP), is in crisis after forming a covert electoral pact with the hardline Islamist group Jamaat-e-Islami. The move has triggered a revolt within the party, with at least 30 senior leaders, including Tasnim Jara, resigning in protest.

The alliance has raised concerns about the NCP's future as it strays from its secular and progressive image. NCP's chief, Nahid Islam, defended the decision citing the need for unity against election interference.
