Barcelona's Raphinha Aims for Contract Extension Beyond 2028

Raphinha, the captain of Barcelona, has publicly stated his intention to extend his contract with the club beyond 2028, expressing a desire to conclude his playing career at the Catalan side. In an interview with Catalan radio station RAC1, he noted that his current contract, renewed in May 2025, is set to last until June 30, 2028.

Raphinha, who is 29 years old, mentioned that his impressive performances at the start of the current season have given him confidence in his ability to play at a high level for several more years. He indicated that when he signed his existing contract, he was uncertain about his physical condition in his early thirties.

While Raphinha's preference for a contract extension is clear, Barcelona has not yet formalized any agreement. His current role as captain, appointed this season, has increased his responsibilities, and he has been performing exceptionally well, scoring 11 goals and providing three assists in his first seven appearances of the season.
