Basketball Stakeholders Honor Colonel Ahmedu at 68

Colonel Samuel Ahmedu, a retired Nigerian Army officer and current President of FIBA Africa Zone 3, celebrated his 68th birthday today. Basketball stakeholders across Africa paid tribute to his immense contributions to the growth of basketball in Nigeria and West Africa.

Ahmedu successfully transitioned from military service to sports administration, overseeing basketball development in eight West African nations. Under his leadership, FIBA Africa Zone 3 has seen significant expansion in basketball activities, including increased competitions, coaching clinics, and youth development programs.

Alex Kukula, President of the Ghana Basketball Federation, praised Ahmedu as a visionary leader committed to youth development. Calvin Digg, Secretary General of the Liberian Basketball Association, commended Ahmedu for revitalizing basketball in the region, particularly in Liberia, where he played a crucial role in resolving disputes within the basketball federation.

Despite reaching 68, Ahmedu remains actively involved in grassroots programs and coaching clinics, earning admiration from basketball stakeholders at all levels.
