Bauchi State and UNICEF Collaborate to Fight Neglected Tropical Diseases

The Bauchi State Government, in partnership with UNICEF, is ramping up efforts to eradicate neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) in the state. Dr.

Nuzhat Rafiqu of UNICEF emphasized the link between poverty and ill health due to unclean environments and poor sanitation. The campaign aims to promote behavior change, ensure access to safe water, and discourage open defecation.

Haruna Barau Wakili highlighted the need for sustained funding and proper interventions to prevent NTDs. The initiative includes distributing drugs, maintaining good sanitation, and promptly treating identified cases.
