Bayelsa Monarch Urges Youths to Stop Pipeline Vandalism

HRH David Oseni, a traditional ruler from the Elebele community in Bayelsa State, issued a warning to local youths against oil pipeline vandalism, highlighting the severe long-term environmental damage it causes to local livelihoods, farming, and aquatic life. This warning came during a bi-monthly stakeholders’ forum convened by Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL), where stakeholders from oil and gas host communities, including the Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide, advocated for increased engagement with the Federal Government to ensure pipeline security and boost oil output.
Famous Daunemigha, the Second National Deputy President of the Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide, noted that since PINL began operations in the Eastern Corridor, regular meetings with host communities have significantly contributed to securing the pipelines, resulting in zero infractions. Oseni acknowledged PINL’s role in environmental protection and reiterated the importance of community involvement in safeguarding oil resources.
