Bayelsa Governor Duoye Diri Defects from PDP to Unknown Party

Bayelsa State Governor Duoye Diri has officially announced his departure from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in a move that has shocked the political landscape. The announcement was made during a meeting at the Exco Chamber of the Bayelsa State Government House.

Governor Diri's resignation from the PDP was accompanied by 23 members of the House of Assembly led by Speaker Abraham Ingobere. This move comes shortly after Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah also defected to the opposition party APC.

Governor Diri, who was elected as a House of Representatives member in 2015 and later as a Senator in 2019 before becoming the Governor of Bayelsa in 2020, has now left the PDP ahead of the 2023 elections.
