Bayer Leverkusen Appoints Kasper Hjulmand as New Manager After Dismissing Ten Hag

Bayer Leverkusen appointed Kasper Hjulmand as their new manager following the dismissal of Ten Hag after a disastrous start to the season. Hjulmand, who resigned as Denmark's coach in July 2024, expressed delight at the opportunity.

The club's sporting director admitted to an error in hiring Ten Hag and believed sticking with him would have been a bigger mistake. Hjulmand will lead Leverkusen in their upcoming game against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Ten Hag, who led Leverkusen to an unbeaten domestic double last season, criticized the club's decision, calling Hjulmand his successor. Hjulmand's successful spell with Denmark included a narrow loss to England in Euro 2020 and reaching the last 16 in Euro 2024.
