Benin Diaspora in Nigeria Backs Wadagni for Presidency

The Benin Diaspora in Nigeria is mobilizing support for presidential candidate Romuald Wadagni and his running mate Mariam Chabi Talata in anticipation of the April 12 elections. The former president of the Benin Diaspora in Nigeria, Hounkpafi Honor, led the call, highlighting the candidates' visionary ticket.

Honor noted that Wadagni's tenure as Minister of Finance significantly contributed to the country's economic growth and emphasized the need for diaspora participation in the electoral process. The diaspora community, which includes approximately two million Beninese citizens in Nigeria, is encouraged to unite in support of the candidates.

Ambassador Berenic Gnansoun Bankol expressed confidence in a peaceful electoral process, describing the elections in Benin as traditionally calm and orderly. The ambassador also mentioned the decision to extend voting rights to citizens abroad in line with constitutional provisions, underscoring the importance of the diaspora's involvement in the electoral process.
