Benue State Government Domesticates Laws to Protect People Living with HIV/AIDS

The Benue State government has implemented laws to safeguard the rights of people living with HIV/AIDS, aiming to reduce discrimination and stigma. Governor Hyacinth Alia disclosed this during an awareness event, with Deputy Governor Sam Ode present.

The legislation, passed in 2019, focuses on providing modern healthcare facilities and treatment for HIV/AIDS patients. Various partners, including NACA and international donors, are supporting the state's efforts.

Dr. Paul Ogwuch praised the government's initiatives, while Josephin Angev from AFROCAB UNITAID highlighted ongoing awareness campaigns and testing centers in primary healthcare facilities across the state.
