Major Drug Syndicate Arrests in Global Crackdown

On April 28, 2026, a significant operation led to the arrest of billionaire drug baron Amadi Simon in Switzerland, alongside two female kingpins, Jecinta Amara Ikechi (34) and Bless Ngozi Amadi (28). This operation was a collaborative effort between Nigeria's National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the U.S.

Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). The arrests followed extensive intelligence gathering and investigations that linked the suspects to a vast network involved in drug trafficking and financial crimes across several countries.

Ikechi was apprehended in Anambra State, while Amadi was arrested in Agbor, Delta State. The NDLEA disclosed that the syndicate utilized complex financial structures, including shell companies and cryptocurrency wallets, to launder hundreds of billions of naira.

Properties linked to the network, such as Jovi Hotel in Asaba and other locations in Abuja, were identified. NDLEA Chairman Brigadier General Mohammed Buba Marwa emphasized the operation's success in combating organized crime and safeguarding Nigeria's economic integrity.
