Sheikh Abduljabbar Challenges Kabara's Death Sentence

Sheikh Abduljabbar has submitted a 14-page petition to the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), alleging that the death sentence handed to Kabara by an upper Sharia court in Kano in December 2022 for blasphemous remarks against Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is politically motivated. Abduljabbar argues that the conviction is unjust and orchestrated to silence dissenting voices, claiming that foreign actors are attempting to create a revolutionary leader akin to Iran's Ayatollah Khomeini in Nigeria.

He recounts meetings with Iranian envoys and alleges attempts to recruit for a foreign-backed agenda, including a contract worth $500 million. Abduljabbar accuses former Minister of Education Adamu Adamu of orchestrating the ordeal, including sending armed forces to invade Kabara's home.

He claims that the judiciary has stalled the appeal process and violated Section 38(1) of the Nigerian Constitution, which guarantees freedom of thought and conscience. Abduljabbar concludes his petition by urging the CJN to intervene, describing Kabara as a patriot imprisoned without committing a crime and warning that the case represents a grave miscarriage of justice.
